Wappingers Warriors: Travel Baseball
Our Mission
Our mission is to work with our youth travel baseball players to develop a love and appreciation of the game of baseball through competitive and challenging play. We focused on building team work and learning to both win and lose with dignity. We teach respect for self, teammates and our competition. We hold our players to high expectations in terms of their commitment to the team. The coach staff is focused on developing not only baseball skill, but also life skills.
Our Principles:
- The players come first, always. We put the health and wellbeing of our players ahead of wins and losses.
- We value strength and conditioning based on NPA principles. All players go through the same throwing program to both improve skills and avoid injury.
- Our coaching staff's role is to teach, support and develop our players skills and passion for baseball. The players are the stars, not the coaches.
- Coaches, players and parents are expected to create a positive and support environment for both the Warriors players and our competitors. We hold ourselves to a high standard in terms of sideline behavior and show respect to the umpire.
- Wappingers Warriors is 100% non-profit, all team fees are applied to league dues, umpires, balls & equipment, training, field and facility access.
- Warriors fees are designed to be cost effective and affordable for all families.
- We work closely with Town of Wappingers Little League to allow players to experience both Little League and Travel Baseball.
- We believe in the value of kids playing multiple sports and interests outside of baseball. We design our practice and game schedules accordingly.
- We proudly support and encourage the participation in multiple sports and activities outside of baseball. We might be old school but we think playing other sports has a positive impact on baseball play by using skills and muscles in a different way. Mostly it's just a lot of fun to play different sports without having to specialize.
Winter Training Facilities
Our winter training home for the 2023/24 is at Cadets Player Development Academy in Fishkill New York. We have access to tunnels and turf training fields to keep the team sharp and developing even when there is snow on the ground. In addition we have weekly batting practice also at Cadets.
Greater Hudson Valley Baseball League
Wappingers Warriors Travel Baseball teams compete in the Greater Hudson Valley Baseball League which is comprised of teams placed into 4 competitive divisions across the New York Tri-State Area.
